Illuminati 2G is here with Ralphy Boy, how’s it going?

I’m great man! Happy to be alive.

How did you get your start in music and who are some of your musical influences?

Man! After deciding a few years ago that this is what I wanted to do, finding myself as an artist was first. I was turned down a lot but I took being turned down as motivation. I went home and studied the ins and outs of this music thing to the point where I know how make a name for myself. As far as influences, I have so many stemming from Tupac’s passion and work ethic, to Jay-Z’s flow and business but overall Mos Def is the most influential in how my music is made. His creativeness and humbleness, not caring too much about the spotlight.

You recently dropped your new EP entitled Hear Me, Feel Me. Tell me a little bit about the EP.

“Hear Me, Feel Me” is basically a project about emotion and feeling hence, the title. I took as many life experiences as I could and put them onto the best instrumentals to represent them. Being that this is my first project, I wanted this to be an introduction to what I’m preparing to do. I wanted the listeners to leave knowing Ralphy, having something to go back to so they can know where it all stems from. You know!!!???

I hear ya, good explaination. Do you have any videos set to drop from the project?

Well I have the “Get It” video already out now but will be releasing a video for the song “Peep Game”. It will probably be out by the time this gets published but either way, be on the look out for that.


Do you have any upcoming projects set to drop after the EP?

I’ve actually started working on my new album. No title or date but I will take on the production duties myself this time around.

What are your thoughts on the music industry in 2011?

The music industry in 2011 is fine to me. There is a good and bad side to everything. It’s about adapting and if you claim you’re an artist, you have to be able to adapt whether it’s within the art itself or on the business side. My only issue is not really having anywhere to buy c.d.’s because I love physical c.d.’s.

I agree, nothing beats original artwork and booklets. Do you have any upcoming shows or tour dates?

For now, I’ll opening at the Rap Rocks concert at the Velvet Lounge in Washington D.C. on June 9th. Working on some other dates so, stay tuned for that.
