I2G chilled with Snow Tha Product for a exclusive interview. We discuss her single, Holy Shit, which has received a crazy response from the listeners, her upcoming projects and so much more so check it out.

Illuminati 2G is here with Snow Tha Product, how’s it goin?

Pretty good, how’s it goin?

Good, good. T ell me a little bit about how you got your start in hip-hop and some of your musical influences out there comin’ up.

Alright, well, I got started kinda like how everybody gets started, you like music, you wanna take part of it. I kinda just freaked out when I was younger, did the battle rap thing, and then it kinda evolved into wanting to actually make it a career. My influences were really Biggie, Eminem, Tupac, Big Pun, Missy Elliot, Timbaland, Ludacris, a lot of people. I just kinda got influenced by all the music that I actually listen to.

How’d you come up with the name Snow Tha Product for yourself?

It’s actually a more boring story than most people think. I was actually more pale than most of my friends so me and my friend were trying to come up with a little group or whatever because we wanted to be princesses or whatever. She was Belle and I was Snow White cause I had black hair and I was pale. That’s pretty much it, and Tha Product kinda came me wanting to sell this music thing as a product, so Snow White was gonna be the product that I’m out here selling to people. Me, my name, my personality, my name and everything on it. Me. That’s really where that came from but Disney had a problem with it, so it just became Snow Tha Product. So now it’s just that.

You just recently dropped a single entitled Holy Shit, an appropriate name for the song for anyone that’s listened to it. Just tell me about recording that song and how it came together for you.

My boy shot the video, Eric Guererro, he had told me he was going to be in California for another thing I was doing and he told me why don’t you get on the phone real quick and we’ll shoot something for it, kinda like a little freestyle type of video. I got a beat the same day that somebody had just sent me and I just went on there and I just wanted to talk about what people are going to perceive me as whenever they see me cause I know I’m not very known so their first impression, what is it going to be? That’s really all I’m talking about on that like am I white, do I write, who likes what I do, stuff like that. That’s how that came about and I named it Holy Shit really because I didn’t have a name for it and that’s just what the session was called but it worked out well.

What has been the response from those who have heard it? I’ll be honest, I was blown away when I first heard it. It’s been years since Lady Of Rage, or someone like that that’s really spit on the mic like that. The bars, the verses, they were crazy.

Most of it’s just “Where have you been?” because when they find out that I’ve been doin’ this for a while, it’s like why hasn’t anybody really ever heard of me before. It’s kind of like why am I so unknown and stuff, but overall it’s good. I really can’t complain about all the support I’ve been getting. I’m happy to say that I’m getting all of that support due to my talentt, so that’s good.

Are there any details you can give on any upcoming projects? You have an album ready entitled Beauty And The Beast getting ready to drop later this year, any details?

Well, Beauty And The Beast is just a project I’m working on slowly until I get to the point where I wanna drop an album. Right now, it’s just really mixtapes. Unorthodox, that should be dropping this month, that’s kinda what I’ve been focusing on right now. I dropped a 0.5 version on the 15th, which is kinda like free download, kinda like a snippet, sample type of thing., o you can get the feel of it, and then the full-length version is out as well. If people like what they hear for free, then they can go ahead and purchase the mixtape. It’s all original and stuff like that, but it’s still kinda got that mixtape feel and I’m still a mixtape artist, so that’s why it’s a mixtape as opposed to an album. So yeah, that mixtape is what I’m really working on right now.

You mentioned earlier about music and people recognizing your talent as an emcee and not what you wear or how you look and things of that nature. What are your thoughts of hip hop in 2011 and the role of women in hip hop today?

I think there’s a lot of women in this game and I think there’s gonna be more out but my opinion on it is that it’s kind of unfair and there are a lot of double standards. There are a lot of negative things people can say about females and right away they wanna shoot ‘em down and stuff like that. They’re very picky. Whereas, when it’s a guy, they let a lot of males slip with a lot of stuff. They can not be the best singer, best lyrical person, best looking, but they still somehow are up there. Whereas, if you’re a female, you’re kinda scrutinized a lot more and you kinda have to have everything on point before anybody takes you seriously. That’s just kinda how I feel about that. I think there should be women in this game and I think guys shouldn’t be so hard on females in this industry. It’s 2011, I think women should be able to crap just as much women are allowed to be CEOs and stuff like that. Hopefully, it’s evolving and there’s a lot more females coming out and dropping some real hot stuff. Hopefully there’s more stuff like that.

Do you have any upcoming shows or tour dates coming up for you that you wanna let the people know about?

Right now, I’m just kinda working on all that. Every Wednesday at 9 PM CST, I have my show. I have a webshow where I kinda get on and talk about different stuff like politics and whatever I feel like talking about. Sometimes we just dance or play beer pong or whatever, but that’s every week. So, every week on Wednesday, whatever city you’re in, just turn on your computer.

That leads perfectly into my next question. What’s your website information so people can check out your music, online show, etc?

My main website is obviously http://www.snowthaproduct.com/ but the website where I really blog and put my info on and everything Is http://www.wakeyagameup.com/ and it’s spelled with a YA. Wakeyagameup.com, I’m on there every Wednesday night live, but other than that I just kinda blog about random stuff, put out songs and kinda put out a lot of my material on that and from there, it makes its way onto facebook and twitter. Anywhere you wanna find me, just Snow Tha Product. Type that in.

Well, those are all the questions I have for you. Any last words or shout outs you wanna give out there to the people?

Well, I just wanna say thank you for supporting me and shout out to anybody that’s showing me a lot of love because I need it!
