I2G chilled with the group ME for an exclusive interview. We discuss their unique story as to how they became a group, their mixtape that they dropped last year, their upcoming album and much more so check it out.
Illuminati 2G is here with ME, hows it going guys?
Why don’t you guys introduce yourselves to everybody.
I am Continental T, I am a writer and producer, and one half of the group ME.
I am E-leven, I am from Paris, I am a composer and producer, and other half of the group ME.
I was reading your bio and you have a very unique story. For those unfamiliar with the group, tell me a little bit about how you guys got started in music and how you came together as a group and who are some of your musical influences.
E: Yeah it is a little bit of a crazy story. It started in March of 2010, when I entered this contest put together by Ryan Lesile. I put together a demo and submitted to this website and Ryan chose me along with 2 other people. That got me alot of exposure and that is when Continential T reached out to work with me.
CT: Yeah I hit him up and told him I thought it would be cool that we could start working together. We started communicating on Skype and starting working immediately. Musically we were able to work together well, even through language barriers.
Our influences are Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, people that really made impactful music.
You guys late last year dropped your mixtape entitled This Is Me. Tell me a little bit about the project and the reception from the fans and people that listened to it.
E: The mixtape has gotten a very good reception, it was on Hiphopdx for a couple of weeks and the mixtape was a good way to introduce our music to people. The arrangement of the mixtape I felt showed how versatile we are musically and we try to show to people a little bit about what we can do.
And you guys are also still planning on dropping your album this year correct? Any details that you can give about the album?
E: Yes we are still dropping our debut album and right now we are getting ready to drop the first single.
What are your thoughts on the music industry and the music that is coming out right now?
CT: I think that music is doing a 360, from hip hop to all of the genres that are out right now. The state of music in general is pretty good.
Do you have any upcoming shows or tour dates?
E:Yeah we actually just were at the Cannes music festival in France. That is the largest festival in our country. We have some more shows coming up this month in Paris and hopefully more soon in the United States as well.
