Tum Tum Interview
I2G chilled with Hulk Entertainment artist Tum Tum for a exclusive interview. We discuss his start in music, his upcoming mixtape, Dallas hip hop and much more so check it out.
Illuminati 2G is here with Tum Tum how’s it going man?
Chillin man chillin, blessed.
For those unfamiliar with your music, tell me a little bit about how you got your start in music and who are some of your musical influences out there coming up.
I got my start in music listening to the people that I grew up listening to. Swishahouse, Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Chamillionaire, freestyling is real big down here where I am from and a partner of mine sent my freestyle to the biggest music stores here in Dallas. The owner liked it and he started putting tapes out on us and before we knew it, we were local celebrities.
Eazy E, Too $hort, you know the greats in hip hop.
What currently are you working on for Hulk Entertainment and how did you guys end up linking up?
My partner Dorrough was signed to Hulk Entertainment and we went to high school together. He was telling me how they were peeping my moves out and they one day pulled me aside at a Grammy party. We were chopping it up and they seen what I was doing and they wanted to help me take it to the next level. We did the 3 month/90 day plan like you see on TV, and it was a good connection from there.
Hulk has a really good roster right now and they are focused on branding us and taking us to the next level and I love it right now. We have a video on MTV Jams right now called Make That Money and the next video is going to be me, Trae Tha Truth and Dorrough called Head Rock and then we have Video Girl with me, Blak and Dorrough.
Do you have any mixtapes or albums set to drop soon?
Yeah I have a mixtape set to drop on February 13th. Killa Kyleon is on there, Smoke DZA, Paul Wall, production from Play N Skillz. Chalie Boy and Dorrough is on there. Tum Tum- Respect My Hustle February 13th. Just dropped a new video with Killa Kyleon, we redid that Pimp C, UGK Front Back Side To Side.
What are your thoughts on the music scene in Dallas, Texas?
It’s a lot of good music out here, always has been. A lot of people say though that all they hear on the radio is the dance stuff but there are a lot of good artists out here. My partner T Cash got his own movement, Sore Losers that is a whole other genre of music, Brain Gang, there is a whole lot of people out here doing a whole lot of different stuff.
Everyone has their own lanes and no one is hating on the next person. Even the kids are doing it real big out here.
Do you have any upcoming shows or tour dates?
Yeah we will have some shows coming up after the mixtape comes out, but most definitely we will be at South By Southwest Smokers Club. Me, Currensy, Krit, Smoke DZA.
What’s your website information?
Alright well that is all the questions I have for you, appreciate you getting down for the interview. Is there any last words or shoutouts you want to get out there to the people?
Shout to the Hulk, DCC, make sure you pick up my mixtape February 13th, ya know!
