I2G chilled with Narez for a exclusive interview. We discuss his new single, Cut Em Off, which has been getting great feedback on the site since we premiered it, his new mixtape, Successful Suicide, and much more so check it out.
Illuminati 2G is here with Narez how’s it going man?
Everything good man, how you doing?
Good. Tell me a little bit about how you got your start in hip hop and who are some of your musical influences out there coming up.
I have been doing music for about 15 years but professionally for about 5 years. My influences are Nas, Jay-Z, Biggie, 2pac, all of those legends. Then from there 50 Cent, Big Pun, Cuban Link.
You just recently dropped your new single entitled Cut Em Off. Tell me about the single and how it came together for you.
Yeah that single is produced by Omen and when he let me hear that beat it was crazy and it spoke to me. The song is about cutting people out of your life, which everybody can relate to. It is a difficult decision but in the end do feel better after doing it, cutting the weight off your shoulder.
So it is just about cutting off the negative people and anything that is stopping you from progressing.
That is going to be on your mixtape entitled Successful Suicide. It is a pretty crazy cover and a interesting title, tell me a little bit about it and what people are in store for once the mixtape drops July 26th.

Yeah the cover is very controversial and people ask me all the time why are you representing yourself like that. Especially at this time in hip hop where everyone is trying to stray away from that.
When people really listen to me and hear the tracks, it has nothing to do with that cover, music wise. The cover embodies what Successful Suicide is all about, killing the old me, old ways of thinking, old habits and being successful at it. People always come up with New Year resolutions but they never follow through with it.
I put Successful Suicide which kind of contradicting but I am killing the old me and the new me is represented on every record on the project.
Do you have any videos set to drop from the project?
Yeah, I already dropped one video, which is for Life Charger, which is a pre track to the whole project just to give a visual of what is to come. The song is produced by Jay 1 and it is crazy.
What is up next for you after the mixtape drops?
I am working with Omen and Jay 1 so I am trying to take a mixture of all the new stuff that we are doing and create a album which I am calling it Help Is On The Way. For all the people that think that hip hop needs help, I am telling them help is on the way because I am here.
We are now halfway through 2011, what are your thoughts on hip hop and what is your favorite album that has dropped this year so far?
I got to say album wise and many would not consider this a album but Joe Budden’s Mood Musik 4. I would say to me that is what hip hop is all about and he had the video for Follow My Lead and that is what that has really been influencing me throughout 2011, what him and Royce Da 5’9″ are doing.
I would say right now the hip hop scene is not too underground and not too commerical, but definitely where you can ride with it and vibe to it.
Do you have any upcoming shows or tour dates?
Not at the moment but definitely working on getting some dates coming soon with the mixtape dropping.

Alright well that is all the questions I have for you. Appreciate you getting down for the interview. Is there any last words or shoutouts you want to get out there to the people?
Yeah definitely Queens and Tampa, Florida. I am trying to do this music for both regions, shout out to Omen and Jay 1 for blessing me in every project that I am doing right now.
