Illuminati 2G is here with Tony Nailz how’s it going?
Everythangz looking lovely out here.
What have you been up to since the last interview?
Since the last interview, I’ve been up to just about the samething ya know. Writing, engineering, web development, grinding, traveling and I just launched my own online music distribution network.
Damn congratulations on that. What is the music scene looking like in Alabama these days?
Ahh. the scene out here in Bama haven’t really changed much. We still don’t have Major music resources in all, but we do have a couple hand full of cats thats really starting to take flight ya kno. Birmingham J is still going strong, I really haven’t heard much (musically) from Rich Boy but I know he doin his thang, my cousin Attitude is climbing the charts with dat blow ya back out & I’m coming up quick myself, I competing in this contest (out here) called “Original Artists”. I’m good financially but I’m just trying to secure that recording, marketing and touring ticket. but other than that, it’s just another day on the music out here.
Do you have a release date for any upcoming mixtapes or albums or is there any details that you can give about it?
I have an upcoming album, about to release online (April 21, 2009) called: Worldwide Grind. In store release will soon follow later on in the year. People say I stepped my “A” game up on this one, I got all kinds of outside producers chipping in on the tracks. ya know- The Beat Squad in ATL produced majority of the tracks. Triple Xs from B.More produced that Certified Stuntman track, and not to mention Tribe Worldwide and Dan Ransom. A few tracks from this album are on display at imperial-studioz.net
What is set to drop from your label in 09?
As far as label wise; I been in it. I’m not major but I am 100% Independent. We do our own engineering, recording, marketing and online distribution. Since becoming a compliant merchant, we recently launched our offical brand. Imperial Muzik Network Launched almost a month ago (from today).
What are your thoughts on the state of hip hop in the south and do you feel that the south gets its just due?
Oooh. touchy subject (for some people) but seriously, I witnessed a huge transition in hip hop. On my end, I’m starting to hear all of the talk about the south killed hip hop. Now– I’m not concerned about the thoughts and opinions of those who can’t move their units, but at the sametime, I’m not satisfied with the garbage I’m hearing (in rotation). but other than that, hip hop is holding up pretty good down here. There are a few artists who’s holding it down & at the sametime its some out there who needs a reality check.
Who are some artists that you are currently bumping they music in the ride or at the house that you are feeling?
I’m on that satellite radio pretty strong. But when I choose to hear what I want; I’ll slap in some TI, Luda, Jeezy or Chamillionaire. Most of the time, I be listening to my music to see where I can do better.
What is the best way for people looking for beats or to check out your music what is the best way they can contact you?
www.myspace.com/tonynailz or imperial-studioz.net . For tracks, I recommend the Beat Squad.
Any last words or shoutouts?
