The release follows a steady run of momentum for untiljapan. His album trompe l’oeil drew praise from outlets including Pitchfork and The FADER, while earlier single “PYRAMIDZ” received support from Pigeons & Planes. He continued that run with releases like Born Under Punches and “Child Soldier,” further building a dedicated audience. He was also named by Complex as one of the “13 Best Teenage Rappers Right Now,” further spotlighting his growing presence within a new wave of artists shaping the sound of hip-hop.

untiljapan first began releasing music in 2022 with his independent EP WARHOL, recorded in his bedroom while still in high school. In 2023, his debut LP SAFE TRAVELSintroduced him to a wider audience, led by the breakout single “KISS N TELL,” which crossed one million streams. Born to Nigerian parents and raised in Georgia, his work continues to pull from personal experience, balancing melody and storytelling in a way that feels grounded and intentional.
