May 13, 2026 — (Los Angeles, CA) — Today, unshakably smooth Detroit rapper Skilla Baby returns with “GYSM,” or “get you some money,” out now via Geffen Records. Built on an expertly flipped, long-lost ’90s R&B sample, the new single is essentially a lushly produced love song to stacking cash. Listen HERE via Geffen Records and watch the official music video HERE.
“GYSM” leaps across eras, hitting Jesse Powell’s 1996 cut “You” with the pitched-up chipmunk soul treatment before sliding into a modern soundscape of booming 808s, snapping hi-hats, atmospheric keys, and echoing adlibs. Skilla then provides a masterclass in hustling — laying out his bona fides, revelling in his music success, and giving advice while serving up a hypnotic hook meant to motivate the next generation of strivers: “Young n*gga, go get you some money.”
The sleek track unites Skilla with an A-1 array of producers including Courtlin Jabrae (GloRilla, Ciara), Rance (Kendrick Lamar, Ella Mai), and Kid Hazel (21 Savage, Coi Leray), alongside Warryn Campbell, MyGuyMars, Slimm, and Dash. Meanwhile, the music video comes courtesy of KZA (Ice Spice, BigXthaPlug), who brings the money-making grind to life. Woken by his alarm, Skilla gets ready to clock in, but rather than hit the studio, he progresses through different scenes in different everyday professions: construction worker, delivery driver, office employee, janitor. With humor sprinkled throughout, the clip portrays the star as pure, uncut American hustle.
“GYSM” plays like the come-down to March’s “West to East”featuring 42 Dugg, a booming, streetwise ode to resilience and dominance. That uncompromising cut cemented the creative camaraderie between the two Motor City greats, who linked up earlier this year on Dugg’s celebratory single, “Thick One.”This summer, Skilla will also support select dates on the 4 The Trenches tour, an all-Detroit lineup co-headlined by Dugg and Babyface Ray. More info HERE.
After teasing unreleased music on his socials this year, Skillarecently wiped the slate clean, posting a featurette (see HERE) about the wages of fame and sparking fan speculation that something big could be coming. Over the past year or so, the in-demand artist has mostly been spotted stretching out on features like DDG’s “gta,” Finesse2Tymes’ “Outta My Mind,”“NBA” with RTB MB and RTB Capo, and EmanuelDaProphet’s “LIL ANGEL ‘SHE HER’,” among others. Last month, he linked up with Detroit’s own Ebony Rileyfor the steamy “You Better Know.”
Prior to that, Skilla dropped his Crack Music 3 mixtape, which included highlights like “Jwett,” “Donavan McNabb,” the 4Batz-assisted “So Bad,” “Sensual” featuring Toosi, and“Controversy 2” with Tee Grizzley. Just ahead of the release, Skilla celebrated his birthday with a pair of hometown shows creative-directed by none other than multihyphenate powerhouse Teyana Taylor. Guests included Sada Baby, Tee Grizzley, G Herbo, YTB Fatt, Bfb Da Packman, and more.
All of that followed the Deluxe Edition of The Coldest mixtape, which dropped the same month that Skilla scored the coveted “People’s Champ” fan-voted slot on the XXL 2024 Freshman Class cover. Ever since, Skilla Baby has turned every high and low into fuel for an unstoppable rise.
