LA-based vocalist, DJ and multi-instrumentalist Lyric Jones released “Better Now”, her first new single in four years, on June 10th, 2024. A soulful, four-on-the-floor foray into the realm of Deep House, the introspective track reintroduces Lyric to fans and showcases her versatility as an artist. With synth-infused elements of Electro/Soul, “Better Now” finds Lyric exploring themes of personal growth and resilience in the face of hardship. Her vocals are heartfelt, and her rhymes flow seamlessly, as she delivers a message of self-empowerment and healing. Earlier this month, Lyric shared the original OP Miller-produced record along with five new remixes– by Ian Wallace, Zo! & Tall Black Guy, XL Middleton, and Soul Clap, respectively –in the form of an EP.

“When it comes to house dubs the north stars are those classic 90’s MAW b-sides that hone in on a special section of the vocal and loop, chop and rinse. With so many great harmonies from Lyric on this one it was easy to zone out to this beautiful, hypnotic loop. Then I took it and it through the Soundcraft board and into my Electrix Mo-FX to add some delays and texture. Next I dropped the beats and passed it over to Charlie who laid down the bassline and synths.
