Rhyme Assassin Interview

Check out our exclusive interview with Rhyme Assassin. Audio and text below.

All right, we’re here with Rhyme Assassin, how’s it going, man?

I’m fine, thanks, how are you doing?

Doing good, doing good. Let’s get right into it, you just recently dropped your new single with a stick band from Dead Prez, entitled Be Mighty and also the accompanying video. Tell me a little bit about the single and video and how it came together for you guys.

So, this track is called Be Mighty. So basically, it’s a track about, it’s a powerful anthem about rising up above your fears and safe doubt and embracing your inner strength and purpose. So, when I first got the instrumental, I was thinking of people to feature, but the first person who came to mind was Stigman, because he’s always talking about elevating, fighting for your freedom and everything.

So, he’s the first person I contacted with. Then he was happy to jump on the track. Then as far as the hook, there was a soul singer from the UK called Wayne Giddens.

I wasn’t familiar with him prior to making the track. So, I spent some time scrolling over the internet for UK soul artists. Then I bumped into Wayne Giddens,

I listened to one of his songs, and I liked his sound.

So, you know, then I approached him to jump on the track and he was happy to do so. And I was always been a fan for Dead Prez and Stic man. So, you know, it was like almost natural for me to, you know, to reach out to Stic man to bless me with the bars on the track.

Okay, absolutely. And will this new single, are you working on an upcoming album or mixtape? Just what’s up next for you as far as projects?

So, basically, Be Mine is the third single of my up-and-coming album called Dedicated to Self. So, to give you a little rundown, the first single was called Rhyme Apostles, which was like a post-it card pool with 11 other MCs. So, we’re 12 MCs on the track.

It had Jadakiss on the intro, and it featured many other artists like Rusty Jukes, Keith Murray, The Prodigal Son from Sunz of Men, Canibus, RIP to Chino XL, K Solo, and many more. That was the first single, which got a lot of traction. The second single, which dropped late last year, was called Run’em Up, and the video dropped early this year, which was featuring the legendary MOP and Ruste Juxx as well.

Then coming to Be Mighty, which is the third single of the album. So the plan is to drop one more single. I’m not yet sure which one is gonna be, but one more single, and I’m going to release the album.

Okay. And do you have kind of an idea date-wise when you’re set to drop, or that’s still in the works?

I’m thinking possibly in January, only because I need to set up album launches in a few countries, because I’m based in the UK. So, I was trying to do a UK, Europe, and Africa album launch. So, I’m still working on it.

So, I think it will probably be in January, because I think as far as the music is 99% complete. So, I’m just finishing a few things. Then, it’s going to be early January, I think.

Okay.

All right, we’re now eight months into 2025. Just what’s your thoughts right now on the state of hip-hop in 2025? I know you being from the UK.

For us in the states, UK hip-hop has really been to the main and the forefront here in the last year or so. A lot of UK artists are dropping a lot of big time mainstream albums here in the states that are getting that acclaim and really getting that recognition that they deserve. Just what’s your thoughts right now on hip-hop right now in 2025?

So basically, I’m not sure I’m qualified enough to answer that because as far as listening to music, I’m always leaned more to the boom bap type style, the lyricist type. So there are other types like trap music and stuff. I don’t really tip in to see what’s going on over that side.

But as far as hip-hop in 2025, I think it’s a great fool for hip-hop. As far as boom bap, lyricist, because I’ve seen a lot of OGs dropping albums this year. Ghostface has recently dropped an album, which I actually listened to today, which I think is like super dope.

Redman, Xzibit, and other kids like Locksmith. Pretty dope. So I think there is some great stuff going on.

Absolutely. All right, do you have any upcoming shows or tour dates or anything coming up for you and let the people know about?

At the moment, there is only one in the UK., which is going to be the Pavilion, which is due to be in October. I think the last weekend of October, I’m not sure what date it is exactly, but it’s the last weekend of October.

That’s the only one confirmed at the moment.

Okay. What’s your website information for people looking to check out your music and see what you got going on? And also your socials, all that where people can check you out.

Check out and see what you got going on.

So my website is rymesassassin.com and my socials, I’m pretty much Rhyme Assassin on all social media. So whether it’s IG, X, threads, Facebook, if you just type Rhyme Assassin, then you know they’ll be able to reach me, to get me at that.

All right. That’s all the questions I have for you. Appreciate you getting down for the interview.

Definitely enjoying the new single, Be Mighty, featuring Stic Man from Dead Prez. That’s gotten pretty good rotation here on the site. So definitely looking forward to the album once it drops.

Do you have any last words or shout outs you want to get out there to the people?

So basically, I want to say a special shout out to everyone who’s tuning in and listening in to this interview, and everyone supporting me and this website. Also, I just like to encourage people to tap into the music. I’m bringing out dope music to encourage people, so just give it in.

It might be something you’re going to like. And just to give it a rough idea what the album is going to be like.
