Kydd Jones drops
his new project,
Botanicals In Booker T, paying homage to his hometown of Austin, Texas by releasing it on the anniversary of when the City of Austin government declared September 1st to be “Kydd Jones Day.” The singer-songwriter/producer tapped into his R&B and indie sensibilities with the new EP, saying that “with a lot of these songs, I was emotional and fighting depression while recording late nights.” Jones debuted a music video for one of the lead singles,
Gravity, which features
Billy Blunt on instrumentation as well as additional productions by
NIP. The EP is rounded out with Kydd’s newest single,
Best Way I Know, a collaboration with Dutch superproducer
Freek van Workum featuring a rare guest verse from fellow South Austinite, Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter/guitarist
Gary Clark Jr who is currently touring with
The Black Keys. Jones says about the long-overdue track, “This should be played at the Super Bowl! When I showed the song to Gary, he said it was an arena track.”
Kydd Jones has performed at festivals like the Billboard Hot 100 Fest, Austin City Limits Music Festival, the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival, NXNE, SXSW and more. Jones has worked with artists such as Yelawolf (Shady/Aftermath), Kirko Bangz(300 Entertainment), Felly (Sony Entertainment/Warner Brothers), Quin NFN (Empire), Eric Dingus(OVO Sound) and Max Frost (Atlantic).
