BUS INTERVIEW 1/10/09
Illuminati 2G kicked it with Alabama’s own, Bus for a exclusive interview. We discuss his upcoming album, his new single Fabreeze, his thoughts on the state of hip hop and much more so check it out.
Illuminati 2G is here with Bus how’s it going?
I’m Goochi! Just been grinding this music, my boy!
Tell me a little bit about how you got your start in hip hop and some of your musical influences out there.
Well I started making beats while I was in High School back in 96-97 using hand me down equipment from my friends. It was pretty natural to me. I was content doing that for a long time and made beats for a lot of local artists. I would also freestyle from time to time, but I was pretty much consumed with doing other things. My best friend always told me I should focus on doing music. Well he passed away and I decided I’d get serious about music. The passion for Hip Hop took over then and it’s just like breathing for me now. I can’t exist without it.
How would you best describe your style on the mic?
I’m a lyrical Houdini with punch lines and metaphors up his sleeve. You never know what I’m going to say. On every song I say something that leaves you thinking. “Did he just say that?”
Tell me a little bit about your new single Fabreeze.
Pretty much it represents being the freshest on the scene. My boy Big J South laid down the tight ass screwed hook. Me and Alabama Cash brought the rawness that just brought the beat alive. Finally, my partner Mr. N.I.C.E. hummed in the background putting the track over the top!
You also have a remix to the song with Knoc correct?
That’s correct! Me and Knoc along with two other artists are currently recording the remix to the song. We’ve pretty much kept it under wraps. Now it’s time for us to hit everybody back with the remix to the song.
What details can you give about your upcoming albums dropping soon.
Right now I have a mixtape out with R&B singer, and Carrolton, Alabama native Mr. N.I.C.E. called Movement In Progress. It features Alabama Cash, TaylrMayd (Slip N Slide DJ), JC, Handz Onn, Big J South, Leroy Dean, Tre Duece, Dangero, Comedian Booger Brown and Carlos Neal. It had production from me, Jamez Bund, Purp Productions, Buck for rawconnection, and Ansane. I have a new album dropping soon with Mississippi artist Leroy Dean, a solo album dropping in a few months, and the follow up album with Mr. N.I.C.E.

What are your thoughts right now on the state of hip hop?
I honestly think there is a lot of good hip hop other though, but it is almost all underground. Most stuff being played on the radio now I personally don’t like, but that’s what’s selling so a playa can’t hate out there. Everybody stick your ears to the street and listen cause that’s where all the REAL HIP HOP IS AT!
What is some music that you are bumping in the ride or at the house that you like to listen to?
Of course I still listen to the Biggie, Pac, Big Pun, Big L, UGK, ESG, 8ball and MJG, and classics like that. Other then that I’ve been checking out a lot of underground artists.
What is your myspace or website info for people to check out your music?
