I2G is here with DJ Illegal, how’s it going?
Hey whats up all is good im touring currently with the Teacher KRS One in Europe and next month jumping right away into the Snowgoons 25th Anniversary Tour with Ill Bill, Sean Strange and many others.
Lords Of The Underground just dropped their new album entitled “So Legendary”, which the Snowgoons produced. Tell me a little bit about how the album came together for you and the group.
We wanted to do an Album with the Lords already back in 2016 and DoItAll already recorded some songs even one featuring Treach from Naughty By Nature but somehow we all dropped the ball and had other things to work on. Then in 2019 Carlos from Latfro Ent. set up a new Tour with the Lords and Onyx. Im the Onyx DJ when they tour in Europe so we started talking about it and Carlos also weight into the idea of an Lords & Goons project. We almost finished the Album during this Tour and wanted to drop it early 2020 but we all know what happened next. The pandemic killed the momentum for this project and it took us over 3 years to get back to it. We didnt wanted to just send some beats and verses but rather have it recorded naturally in the studio. 2024 the Lords came back for a tour and we finished the project and finally its here. We released the Album 100% independent on our Label Goon MuSick.
Do you have any favorite moments or songs from the project?
It’s safe to say that the “What’s Up” song is a highlight on the album because you can tell this is an heavy Onyx influenced song. Beside Onyx being the only feature on the Album we all jammed out to beats in the Studio and realized that the Lords and Onyx never did a song together. They picked a hardbody beat by Sicknature of the Snowgoons and just had fun with it. I think this could been also a Onyx song ft Lords but the Lords had a lot of fun doing something a bit outside of their pocket. We did the Video the next day on the next Show to the ruff mix of the song because we didn’t even have the final mixed version. It just shows that the Lords are really versatile and can do a lot of styles.
Do you have any more upcoming videos or singles?
I’m sure we will drop another single and video down the line once the Lords are back on Tour. It is really important for the crew to do it natural instead of just everybody sending his part. Considering that all 3 Lords living in different states it is sometimes a challenge to get things done.
What’s next for the Snowgoons in 2025?
Well the Goons never sleep and we already got something big up the sleeve and will announce it soon. Beside we still putting focus on the Label Goon MuSick and got Artists like Benny Holiday, K-Prez, Novatore, Jn’ration, CRae amongst others coming with new fire.
Do you have any shows or tour dates?
Like I said in May we got 10 dates in Europe for the 25th Anniversary Tour and we starting in Bucarest/Romania to 2 x Greece, Italy, 3 x Switzerland, UK and last show in Munich/Germany.
