May 8, 2025 (Los Angeles, CA) — Atlanta rapper J.I.D has released the official music video for new single, “WRK.” Directed by Chad Tennies (Resolve) and produced by Satin Heart, the video explores a post-apocalyptic Atlanta where imagery of artifacts and music equipment are rounded up to be burned. Inspired by movies like “The Warriors” and “Mad Max,” J.I.D love for films continues to inspire his creative visual world with this video. Watch above or via link here.
The video comes a week after J.I.D’s recently announced album, his fourth studio album. The dynamically named project, God Does Like Ugly, is available for pre-order now and will be released this Summer, on August 8th. Fans can pre-order the album via: https://JID.lnk.to/GodDoesLikeUgly
Giving fans a taste of what they can expect on this new album, J.I.D also released a short visual depicting scenes from a lost word, borrowing inspiration from films like The Warriors and Mad Max but as always with J.I.D, set upon the backdrop of Atlanta. Speaking on it, J.I.D shares:
“Starting this new journey coming off The Forever Story has been a very strange, productive yet tedious process, but I live my life by the saying ‘You can only control what you can control.’ So this is the first step into a new world that I control. And. It’s. F*cking. UGLY.”
The album announcement comes on the heels of J.I.D’s most recent release called “WRK;” the “high energy offering [ushering] the start of a new era”(Hypebeast). The song which was produced by GRAMMY winning producer Pluss and longtime collaborator Christo. It centers J.I.D’s signature double time bars, infectious word plays and vocal changes that keeps the listener hooked for the length of the three-minute track.
