Manzu Beatz Interview
Check out our exclusive interview with producer Manzu Beatz.
How did you get your start in music and who are your musical influences?
My love for hip-hop culture and its disciplines began in the late 1990s. I grew up listening to all the great rap music of that period, especially Wu-Tang and Mobb Deep, but of course there were many other great artists too. I started out as an MC because rap was my way of expressing my passion for hip-hop. Every beat I heard took me somewhere else; that energy made me realise how much I admired producers. Over time, I followed that calling and started producing myself. I completely fell in love with it, I see it as pure art, and I wouldn’t want to do anything else.
You just recently dropped your new single, Danny Ocean with Daniel Son. Tell me a little bit about how that track came together for you.
This project started last year. I got in touch with Daniel Son after we collaborated on a track called ‘TOO REZILIENT’, which was part of the joint album released in 2023 with Slik Jack. From there, we started talking.
Since Daniel Son is always busy with multiple projects and live shows, the recording sessions began last summer.
‘Danny Ocean’ was the first track of the new project, and I think it was the perfect choice for launching it, Snotty was also the ideal artist to feature on the track.
We would call each other to select the instrumentals, after which Daniel Son would write and record his verses and send them to me right away.
The whole process was a really great experience.
Do you have a upcoming Mixtape or album set to drop?
This project is something different. I wanted to shape it like a magazine, where every single represents a new volume. Danny Ocean was Volume 1, and on October 31st we’re dropping Volume 2, Bad New featuring New Villain.
I shared the concept with Daniel Son, and he really vibed with it. So we decided to release each track as its own volume, one by one, like a collection series and at the end, it’ll all come together as a special vinyl edition.
Do you have any more upcoming videos?
No, we don’t have any videos planned for this project, since there are many artists involved and it’s not easy to coordinate everything.
What are your current thoughts on the music industry?
There’s too much music dropping every day. Some of it’s dope, no doubt, a lot of talented artists out there.
But the thing is, projects don’t last anymore. Artists spend months working on something just to see it fade in a couple of weeks.
I think a single should live at least two or three weeks, maybe more if people really feel it. But dropping seven, eight projects a year without giving them time to breathe? That doesn’t make sense to me. You end up lost in the ocean of music
What is currently playing on your playlist musically?
Lately, we’ve been lucky to get a new MOBB DEEP album — obviously, that’s something you just gotta love and devour.
Besides that, I’m really feeling, The Alchemist “world”, Griselda and Rome Streetz, those guys are giants. I also listen a lot to Estee Nack and his whole crew; there are some really strong artists there like The Hidden Character, Bori Rock, and I love the touch of their producer BONEWESO.
Of course, I listen to everything Daniel Son does, I really admire him, also Ufo Fev, Pro Dillinger, and Snotty from the Umbrella collective.
I also enjoy producer albums, just to see how they work, like FUTUREWAVE, V DON, and BIG GHOST.

Appreciate the interview, any last words or shout outs?
Big thanks to y’all for the opportunity, and shout out to Marissa MJ HipHopConnex for all the support.
Hip Hop culture saved my life, like it did for so many other artists, taking us off the streets. It’s a huge part of who I am. I really believe in it, and I’ll keep giving my contribution as long as I can. If you truly love this culture, the most important thing is to give a contribution and spread the word.
Peace, Love and Respect.
