Brooklyn lyricist and Sober is Dope founder POP Buchanan delivers a gripping new single titled “Metaphors”, presented by Grand Echelon and produced by 6ix Pomona, with co-production from Nudgi-Nudge. The track is a nostalgic and hard-hitting piece of hip hop storytelling that spans Buchanan’s life—from the trauma of watching his father die, to the strength of his mother raising a family, to the raw pain and pride of Black life in America.

Set against a backdrop of boom-bap drums and haunting melodies, Metaphors dives deep into themes of childhood trauma, systemic racism, police brutality, and the complex beauty of Black identity. “This song is a metaphor for what it feels like to grow up Black in this world, from a child to a man, in a country that both glorifies and crucifies us,” says Buchanan.

More than a personal reflection, Metaphors speaks to generations of Black youth navigating a world full of dualities of love and loss, beauty and pain, dreams and death.

This release is part of a larger visionary project spearheaded by Grand Echelon, aiming to uplift conscious hip hop with a strong voice and unapologetic truth.
