Illuminati 2G kicked it with Swolts for a interview. We discuss the music scene in Chicago, his upcoming mixtape and album, fond memories in the recording studio and much more so check it out.

Illuminati 2G is here with Swolts, how’s it going? Everything is good! Sorry for the wait.

How did you get your start in the game and who are some of your musical influences? I started back in 92′ rapping with a crew of MC’s, the CEO of Darkwater Entertainment decided to be my manager, and later signed me to his record label and the rest is history. My influences back then, where The Youngsters, Kris Kross and Illegal, because they were my age, so I felt like if they could do it I could to.

What are you thoughts on the music scene in Chicago?

I think Chicago is huge right now, Kanye West has a really big name, so does Common and Lupe Fiasco. So we’re right where we need to be.

Do you have any mixtapes or albums in the works?

I have so much material that I’m going to bring out a mix tape this year, and a LP next year.

A album that I have been bumping from your for the past week or so is Forever Tha World. what do you remember most recording that album?

That Album was the first one I did in Chicago, because I wrote my first two Albums in Atlanta and I would just fly to Chicago and record them, but with this one, I really embraced my city, and I think my city really embraced me.

Yeah that album is a throwback. A lot of old schools soul samples. Great album. Where can people contact you or pick up your albums at?

What are you currently bumping at the house or in the ride or your ipod right now?

Everything, old school, new school, I try to get something from everybody.

Do you have any upcoming shows or tours coming up? We are trying to get something done, Its just hard because we are independent, and nobody wants to spend any money.
