September 12, 2025 — (Los Angeles, CA) — Today, genre-bending North Carolina rapper TiaCorine teams with Atlanta fire-spitter J.I.D and Diamond-certified GRAMMY-winning producer Hit-Boy for “Backyard,” a booming study in dominance out now via Interscope Records. The single arrives alongside the news that TiaCorine’s second album, CORINIAN, will drop October 10th. Pre-order HERE, listen to “Backyard”HERE, and watch the wild video HERE.
The release follows a series of anticipation-building appearances from TiaCorine, who is the subject of a multi-page feature in HYPETRAK Magazine (by HYPEBEAST), and recently collaborated with Chance the Rapper and Young Thug on “Gun in Yo Purse.” She also headlined Charlotte, NC’s Durag Festival before hitting The Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash in Chicago the very next day — where fans first got a taste of the moshpit-ready “Backyard.”
Built on a dramatic loop blasted by huge bass and stuttering drums, “Backyard” finds the two style-shifting Southern artists at their aggressive best, flaunting their prowess when it comes to navigating both the streets and the sheets. TiaCorine practically shouts her way through — “Stack hard, you ain’t even gotta act hard” — while J.I.D matches her energy, letting loose a barrage of bars that meet their mark every time. In the colorful video — filmed in Atlanta and directed by Hidji (Latto, A$AP Ferg, Metro Boomin) — the dynamic duo find their idyllic lives upended by an unorthodox sting operation, resulting in a chaotic and often surreal chase through the suburbs.
“Backyard” is only the latest taste of CORINIAN. TiaCorine most recently unveiled “Fall in Love,” a ride-or-die anthem set to her signature blend of hard bars and kaleidoscopic melodies. In addition to making New Music Friday lists at XXL and VIBE, the track inspired BET to write, “If you’re still sleeping on TiaCorine, it’s time to wake it up, now!” while hnhh called it a “banger.”
Before that came “Ironic,” a flex-packed track produced by Kenny Beats with a fittingly trippy music video courtesy of Lyrical Lemonade; and “ATE,” a drill-infused cut that celebrates the fact that TiaCorine is eating while her rivals struggle to keep up. That one also came with a distinct video version that includes vogue performances and musical contributions from Jus10 and Byrell The Great — watch HERE. She also shared the kaleidoscopic “Different Color Stones.”
TiaCorine is building off of a monumental 2024 in which she dropped her critically acclaimed Almost There EP, shared the scorching hot “Shamone” music video, teamed with Luh Tyler for “Yung Joc,” and let loose a wild verse alongside A$AP Fergon Denzel Curry’s summer single “HOT ONE.” Following the EP release, Rolling Stone spoke to TiaCorine for an in-depth interview, and The FADER applauded how Almost There “highlights just how far her chameleonic versatility can stretch.” She also embarked on her first-ever headlining US tour.
It all started with TiaCorine’s debut album, I Can’t Wait, led by breakout track “FreakyT,” which inspired a viral dance trend and soared up the Urban Mainstream and Billboard Hip Hop/R&B charts. Her momentum grew across 2023, when she made the XXL Freshman Class and scored “Artist to Watch” nods from Rolling Stone, COMPLEX, Pigeons & Planes, Zane Lowe, Our Generation Music, and more. Cosigns from the likes of Drake, Flo Milli, and the late, great Gangsta Boo followed, as well a direct support slot with Key Glock and festival appearances including Dreamville Festival, Rolling Loud Miami, Day N Vegas, and Rolling Loud NYC. |
