All right, we’re here with DDK. How’s it going, man?
Doing good. How we doing, man?
Doing well, doing well. You just recently dropped your new single, um, entitled Fall in Luv featuring LitFrank and also, uh, the video for the single. Tell me a little bit about the single and how it came together for you.
Man, uh, LitFrank is one of my closest homies in this music stuff. You know, I’ve been, uh, I’ve been working with him since about 2022. We went on 2 separate tours and uh, we both went through our own series of heartbreaks. And um, through that heartbreak, we got to make some beautiful music and for me, it was the 1st single off of my project. uh Verona Prelude is going to be coming soon and uh it kind of tells the story about how it feels to feel that heartbreak.
And do you have any more upcoming singles set to drop from the Verona Prelude project?
Maybe for somebody that’s never listened to your music. What else are they in store for? once they check out the project.
Yeah, so 1st and foremost, the next 2 I got coming are funny enough. We just have fallen in love. The next is, think I’m in love. And then after that, there’s a little, uh, step that I got called GTG, gotta go. And uh, for the people who hasn’t heard me before, this, uh, this project is a good place to start because I feel like everybody in the crisis felt some type of uh, love or heartbreak and that’s how it makes of both of those, you know? So, if you, if you ever had those high emotional, uh, amounts and you ever felt the plateau, this is what exactly they were.
All right, we’re now three months into 2026, which is crazy enough to believe as it is. What’s your thoughts right now on the state of music, state of hip hop, and maybe some projects or what you’re currently listening to on your playlist?
Yeah, wow. 3 months in is crazy. You know, I actually spent uh I spent the Um, say the hip hop right now. I think we’re in a beautiful time, uh, as far as how many genres you can go into, the experimentation of everything, and, uh, how accessible things are, but there really isn’t a leader, and I don’t think there’s been a leader in, uh, this generation. And obviously, I see myself as that.
So, I think it’s a beautiful, beautiful spot to have vacant, but, um, I think it’s, I think it’s a real problem. There’s not enough people to step up. You know, uh, you know, they always say the rap game and basketball are the same. They got that same problem in the NBA right now. They don’t know who’s going to step up as the face of the league. But, um, Very true. As far as, yeah, very true. As far as what I’ve been listening to, I mean, I’ve really been, um, I’m, you know what? I’m gonna I’m gonna check right now. I haven’t been listening to a lot of newer stuff lately. I’m not gonna lie. Um, the last album I really liked, uh, rap wise was, uh, GNX from Kendrick. I still gotta check out, I still gotta check out J Cole project.
I’ve been listening to a lot of late registration recently, uh, recently, honestly. And, um, funny enough, I’ve been I’ve been replaying fallout in Vegas, so I’ve been listening to the fallout songs. That’s where I’m at right now. Okay. I was just listening to late registration a couple days ago myself. That’s a that’s a classic LP right there. It really is. One of my favorites. so many, you go back to it, you keep hearing good things, you know what I mean? I fell in love with going again on that project.
Oh, yeah, definitely. I always said Kanye’s 1st 3 albums, he has one of the best runs ever in hip hop. as far as just debut, 2nd album, 3rd album, and he rarely gets talked about. I know he can be a little crazy to some folks, but maybe hard to understand, but, you know, music wise, it’s undeniable with Kanye.
I was trying to deny, but, I’m bipolar, so I give them a lot of slack, because I know how I feel. Yeah, absolutely. We’re going Gemini. We’re day apart, you know, so I get where he’s coming from, man. but I mean, look listen, listen. and say what they want. The next album after those 3 is 808, which is one of the most influential of this entire generation. And then it’s put to fantasy. You know what I mean? So you can sit that long. you can say he went on a whole 10 year run. Now that you said that, yeah. I’m cutting I’m cutting them a little bit short with the three.
Yeah, he had a pretty legendary run there. absolutely. All right, do you have any upcoming shows or tour dates or anything coming up for you and let people know about?
Right now, um, they’re in the works. I’ll say that. We don’t have anything concrete. I just got back from a show at Fostoria, Ohio. shout out to Venue 18 Been there a couple times with me and LitFrank. So I had about 175 in the building. I had that place going. It was the middle of nowhere in the Midwest, you know, it was a good time. But, uh, definitely after, after this project makes its rounds, expect the PDK on the road again.
All right, what’s your website information? Social, everything for people looking to check out your music and see what you got going on.
DDK, don’t play. That’s 2 D’s, one K, D-O-N-T, P-L-A-Y, on all platforms. You can find me on Spotify, Apple Music is just DDK, and then, you know, TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, X, I guess, Instagram, the lights, everywhere else. And we got some, we’re gonna have some merch coming up on uh, EDK on play.com as well.
Okay, absolutely. All right, well, that’s all the questions I have for you. Appreciate you getting down for the interviews. Any last words or shout outs you want to get out there to the people?
No, thank you for having me, 1st and foremost. I just want to say, man, listen to this. Remember to chase your fucking dreams. Excuse my French, and remember to keep going, yo. That’s all I’ll say. Keep going.
