All right, we’re here with Spaceman, how’s it going, man?
What up, what up?
You just recently dropped your new single entitled Cranky. Tell me a little bit about the single and how it came together for you.
Yeah, I mean, it’s just a new song. My homeboy, Manny McClain sent me the beat, and just wrapped on it. That’s what it should look like.
Absolutely. All right, and will this be on upcoming mixtape or EP or album? Just what’s up next for you as far as projects?
Um, I don’t know as far as I don’t really have my next actually like the next thing planned for this. And this isn’t really this isn’t really in service of like a project or anything like that. It’s, yeah, no, it’s really just the same.
Okay. As far as any visuals, you have any upcoming videos or anything set to drop soon?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. The video is coming out actually a week from today. The video is coming out next Tuesday. So it’s pretty exciting.
Okay. All right. We’re now seven months into 2026. Just what’s your thoughts right now on hip hop and maybe we’re some new singles or albums. Just what are you currently bumping on your playlist right now?
I don’t know. I mean, as far as what do I think of hip hop? I mean, I don’t know. Hip hop is fine. Um, it’s, um, like, because right now, I guess, like, my thing, you know, is that I’m kind of more focused on, um, like, you know, I don’t really, I’m not really into, uh, these sort of, you know, like, limitations or, like, you know, these sort of boxes or buckets or whatever you want.
You know what I mean?
Like, a lot of the stuff that people are doing in the culture right now, I do just kind of feel like it’s all, you know, I feel like it’s a lot of, like, nostalgia, and, you know, if it’s not nostalgia, it’s just kind of like, it’s trying to change some things. So, for me, um, in terms of, like, just kind of, like, how I’m interacting with the culture, like, I’m always looking for stuff that’s, like, new and interesting, and just somebody kind of, you know, actually, like, you know, giving me something that’s, like, surprising or whatever. But for the most part, I’m still kind of, um, you know, in terms of what my personal listening habits really, it’s mostly just about, like, I’m kind of trying to chase, like, chasing the, uh, you know, the ingredients of my own sound.
You get what I’m saying?
Absolutely
So, like, that’s kind of more, in terms of, like, what I’m just listening to nowadays, just, like, you know, stuff that’s kind of giving me, like, melodic inspiration, or just something that I might feel, like, interesting texture or whatever, if you get what I’m saying. Like, it’s not even, a lot of, like, you know, if I’m doing hip-hop, I’m really kind of, like, doing more of the classics than anything else, like, you know, because I’m still, I’m still just kind of trying to, like, synthesize as well as different music into, like, my particular lens of hip-hop, you get me?
