J MONEY INTERVIEW 4/7/09
J Money took time out of his busy schedule to chop game with I2G. We discuss his start in the game, his new single, I’m Ballin, with Rick Ross and the video released with it, his thoughts on the music biz and much more so check it out.
Illuminati 2G is here with J Money how’s it going?
Nothing much man just out here chillin.
Tell me a little bit about how you got your start in music and who are some of your musical influences out there.
Well how I got my start in music, I always liked the music and I looked up to LL, Kool Moe Dee, and I even liked MC Hammer.
How difficult or easy coming from Mississippi did you find that it was to get your music out there to the people?
Well dealing with Mississippi it was typical. It is a small state and alot of people are into the music out here, but in Mississippi we don’t seem to take the music as serious as other big markets and cities because alot of people here show lack of support. Not to say that they will not support you, but you can go to other places and they support your more than your own home city.
Let’s get right into your new album, My Life Check Me Out. How did you come up with the title for the album?
Well you know the adjective…, I came up with the title based on my life and how I came up and what I went through and my life stories. Basically the album speaks for itself and that is why I named the album that.
Tell me a little bit about the single you have, I’m Ballin with Rick Ross. How did that song come about for you?
J. Money Featuring Rick Ross- I’m Ballin: www.zshare.net/audio/181952528efd7a93/
Well Big Swoop dropped the beat and I came up with the concepts and everything. My family and Rick Ross’ family we communicate, hook up for the song but actually we was going through it and I felt that the track would be a good situation for him to get down on. We got in touch, I let him hear the track, he loved it and he came through and showed mad love.
Do you have a video or anything planned for the song?
Yeah the video, we shot the video the late part of last year. Right now it is on Imeem, and we are waiting to release it on 106 & Park.
Is there any details that you can give about the album. Guests, producers, release date?
The producers on the album are Big Swoop, who dropped the Peanut Butter & Jelly beat, you got my homeboy C-Shaw, KJ out of Jackson. The album will drop May 12th and I got some big collabos on it. I got Jim Jones, Yo Gotti, Lil Boosie, Slim Thug, Rick Ross, Ballin G, Cadillac Don, Jackie O, and the album is going to be crazy man.
If you could sum up in one word the sound of the album or what fans can expect from the album, what would you say about it if you could sum it up?
It will be great music, not just for the thug, the music is for everybody. I got music for the ladies, all kinds of music.
Do you have another single picked for the album?
No doubt, I got another single for the ladies. If you don’t want her, give her to me I will take her.
Laughs
It is called I’ll Take Her. That joint right there gonna be big mayne.
What’s your thoughts on the state of hip hop coming out of the South right now?
Well the music coming out of the south, I mean I love all types of music. North, South, East, and West. Good music is good music so and that is what I listen to. Anybody making good music like The Game, Jadakiss, if you make good music I listen to it.
Do you have a wish list or anything? I mean you said the tracklisting and everything and the guests for the album and that is a crazy list of artists. Are there any other artists out there in the industry that you want to collaborate with in the near future?
Well actually I am open and I’m wanting to work with anyone that is willing to make moves. If you willing to make a move, J Money wide open. It’s enough money and situations out there for everyone to eat and there is no need for anyone to get on and try to be selfish. Anybody wanting to work with me, I am down with it.
What is your myspace or website information for people looking to check out your music?
