After first meeting at a Record Store Day event in Hollywood’s iconic Amoeba Records in 2014, the two spent the following years volleying lyrics and music back and forth. The result is a collection of songs that brings the driving beat of rock together with the rhythmic urgency of hip-hop. “do+pe = no country for old men” is part spoken word and part social commentary, rock n’ rap built around the concept that “everybody gets older, but not everybody gets elder,” a lyric that evolved into the thematic core of the album.
